Had some troubles with my horn a while back and thought I had things squared away. Lately it started acting up again and it took me a bit to figure it out. Ended up being a grounding problem between the two bolts that attach the horn body to the bracket that mounts onto the headlight bar. Got lucky and noticed a slight wiggle in that area so I grabbed a 7/16" wrench and gave the two bolts a tug. Now I don't think my horn has ever sounded so good. Sometimes it really is the simple things.

That's interesting. The horn gets it ground from a wire. I wouldn't think it matters wether it was bolted to the frame or not?? Anyone else have thoughts on this?

The horn doesn't use any grounding other than the horn button, if you have an original horn.
Some of the aftermarket horns may use a horn body ground. |

If you look at the wiring diagram, the hot is connected to the horn continuously. The grd goes from the horn button connection down a wire thru the light switch at the bottom of the steering column and on thru a wire to the horn. So there are two wires, one hot,one the ground. So why does the the horn itself have to be grounded?

I put it on quite some time ago when I was chasing other gremlins in the system. I could probably take it off now. But..... it is working like a champ so I think I will leave well enough alone.

So the horn should be isolated from the frame. Is that correct?
