Default First Drive Of The New Year

First day of the year and first drive of the year. It was such a nice day we had to start the Merc and take it for a few runs up and down the driveway. The lighting in this photo was so favourable that the dents and rust holes hardly show up.

I'm hoping for a break in the weather so I can warm my truck up. It's been just above zero at night and there's still snow and ice on the shaded roads and snowing again this morning. Winter seems to last longer the older I get.

We like to see something green and blooming after so much snow so we usually drive to Western Oregon in the spring in March or early April to spend a few days seeing friends and to take some elk meat to my brother and his wife.

Took my coupe out today for about a 25 mile trip. 58 degrees sunshine blue skies!

That is summer time weather for us. :-)
Just for comparison, Jan. 1 when I took the Merc out was about 20 degrees F. That is about 20 degrees higher than a normal January day and I have seen days when it was 20 degrees below the zero mark. Obviously the cars stay in the shed when it is that cold.

After a trace of rain this morning, the clouds cleared a bit this afternoon. Took the '37 out for about an hour and watched the smiling faces.

I took my 39 to a cruise in yesterday along with my Model A. My son drove the A. I took it out again later to run a few errands, bringing it home past dark. I have only had it a few months and am still sorting it out. Later in the evening I repacked the front wheel bearings and adjusted the front brakes.
