What year Ford had 12v negative ground voltage regulator with a generator?

1956 is my guess, when they went to 12 volt.

And, like the very similar 6 V regulator, the 12 V got its polarity when it was flashed and could work either way. Some types of regulators had a permanent polarity, but others like Ford could work either way.

Just a heads up some regulators apply voltage to the fields and some ground the fields.
