Default Brass or Teflon?

I bought four original tubular shock links on eBay to replace the "dog bone" links that were incorrectly installed on my 29 tudor. The tubes needed a little work, but they came with all the "innards" including both brass and teflon cups. So which would you use, and why?

Also does anyone know what finish was used on the grease shields? The JS are mute on the subject.

Thanks in advance!

Judging standards state black enamel on the links and grease seal retainers (section 23-4), third paragraph down. They probably were originally "dipped" in gloss, but i'm not sure. Someone on here will know for sure. As far as brass vs Teflon, I guess it would depend on the condition of your shock balls. They say Teflon should be only used with balls that have minimal wear. Someone with more knowledge will jump in here with the answers you seek.

I used the brass ones and I like the slot cut which is like a babbit, help the grease flow. See my video.

Thanks. Black it is. I thought they might have been cad plated.

My JS only has a 23-1, no 23-4. The revision date is 1997. Is there a newer version I should get?

Yes, if you want the most current info. I think mine is a 2011 revision. I'd have to check to be sure though.
