Default Cowl panel wire/panel support bracket

I would like to know the correct finish for the bracket that holds the top front cowl panel in place on 28/29 model A's (see picture). The bracket comes from parts suppliers bright cad plated. This is also used to hold the wiper wire in place using a rubber grommet in the large hole. It is difficult to see normally, but I would like to have it finished correctly. It would seem to me that Ford would probably have painted the bracket along with the bolts and everything else on the inside of the cowl/gastank. If anyone knows for sure what the finish is supposed to be, please post a response.

Rusty, I have seen them both painted body color as you mentioned above and also with little or no paint on them. I agree with you though that they were painted body color as they would have been installed when the cowl and gas tank were bolted and clamped together.

Gary,
Thanks for your response. I may paint them when I paint other flattened items (inside of the doors). I am almost done with the phaeton painting. I have the front fenders, doors and the splash aprons left to paint. Everything else is painted.

I, -like Gary have seen them both ways but I personally feel like they were painted body color, ...and here is my reasoning. As we know, the tank (along with anti-squeak) was installed prior to painting. They also knew if the vehicle was to be equipped with cowl lamps prior to painting simply because of the hole in the cowl panel. If the hole was there, then the clip was added. Now if the vehicle was to have the lamps installed by the dealer, these clips were ordered/shipped with the lamps and likely were unfinished.

Thanks for the response, Brent. I guess when two experts agree on an answer to a question, it must be correct. It appears either finish, natural or painted would be OK. I will probably paint them.

I agree with the painted wire holding loops and tank clamps, but I also see the loops installed on all Model A's and not just the ones with cowl lamps.
