Default Zenith carb help

My brother is helping a friend get a 29 roadster running. It has a zenith carb, and was leaking gas allover like the float was stuck. He ordered a rebuild kit from Snyders and got the better needle and seat. Rebuilt the carb, had the float adjusted correctly, and he is still having gas flowing out of the carb. Any advise would be appreciated as we are both stumpted!!

Thanks!!

Is the car sitting level? If the front end is raised up it will cock the carb back and allow fuel to flow out the air intake. If the car is level then either the float is set too low (and not closing the valve before gas can flow out the air intake) or the valve isn't closing. Make sure the valve really seals when the float pushes up against it.

Check to see where the gas is coming from, inside the throat or from the outside of the carb. One quick thing to check is to see if the float is full of gas and not closing the valve. ( This makes it a sink, not a float. ) Short main and cap jets coupled with high float level will make them leak.

Take off the bottom of the carb. Replace the bottom with a baby food jar and see the float and valve in action.

The Main and cap jets, if not tight, will sometime leak at the bottom of the jets. When rebuilding a carb I put a small amount of Form-A-Gasket sealant liquid, using a toothpick, on the gaskets before installing to be sure they will not leak at the bottom; I also use the sealant on the gaskets on the float valve, compensating jet, screen and plug below the main jet.
