Any one else buy a Mac's '34 P/U headliner, how did it fit?
Trying to figure out if it's designed all wrong and now I have to alter it to make it fit OR did they send the wrong one? Seems to short, to narrow for proper fit. For around 3 bills to the door I can't see why I should have to modify it but why should it be any diff. than anything else! |

Looks like something is missing that goes around the edges, sides and front and rear? Did not put anything in my 34 pu so do not know what should be in the "kit".

I have a kit that includes the panels that go from the B pillar around to the rear window. The headliner was lost in shipping(don't ask). The panels don't fit worth a dang. My panels set away from the back of the cab and move the headliner forward by an inch or two. Maybe if your headliner was further forward it might fit better. It still looks a little small...( I've heard that before....don't ask on that one either). I'm probably going to make my own stuff up for the interior, looks like none of this 32-34 repro interior stuff fits at all.

It appears that the headliner pushed too far towards the back of the roof section. Also it looks that there is another steel panel that mounts above the windshield to cover the wiper motor(s). This may close the gap.

Wish it was that simple and if it was that does nothing to explain the gaps on both sides.
Haven't looked up part numbers yet but could we have been sent a '30-'31 by mistake or are they the same? |

Mac's catalog description says there are a total of four pieces included. Also mentions "ships direct from manufacturer", sounds like Mac's got caught in the middle on this one. I hate to step on anyone's toes but Scott (Ecklers), did you read your own catalog?

Fordors, We did get 4 pc. the other 2 not shown in my post are the cab corners to rear window, 2 halfs, really doesn't effect the fit of headliner to sides above doors.......................................

Depending on how it's intended to be attached to the top & sides, it might flex out enough to attach adequately to the back wall and door frames. The front edge may depend on a header panel to cover the over the windshield area and fare things over. It would be interesting to see the destructions on how to install that set up. Fiberglass can be worked & modified but it helps to have a relatively close fit to begin with. I don't know if I'd be wanting to use screws unless there are decent places to attach to in the cab top & back. Tack strips maybe? A lot more questions than answers for sure.

As far as "questions" my customer wants to know why he would have to pay me additional funds to make it fit when it should have been molded to fit in the first place. He has a point! I should be paid to install it NOT to re-invent it............................

Can't blame faulty design on Ford's part in this case as no '34 closed cab body (pickup or big truck) originally included a headlining.

Please DavidG, We all know now that maybe Ford did not install/make a factory headliner, that's not the issue.........................................

Mac's sells the Cartouche headliner and other panels for pickups as a kit. I believe Mac's owns Cartouche. I bought a kit from a dealer for a 36. There was no way I could make the headliner fit without modification.
