I have a roll of after market frame welting that is 2 inches wide and made of nylon. and I have a roll of belting that is 1.5 inches wide Made of reinforced rubber! Both are about the same thickness.
Which would be better to use? |

this is the proper size and material available which mimics what was originally used closer than rubber or a wider width nylon. and it costs 16.50 to do the whole frame

Your nylon belting might be of interest to someone rebuilding Gabrial or Watson snubbers.
