Default Fuel tank valve

I am installing a new fuel valve in the base of my 1930 tank. Should I use Teflon tape, or a paste type sealant, for the thread that screws into the tank?

Thank you. I'm going to change it shortly. The tank is draining now.

Consider permatex thread sealant.

Awesome. This is what I have. It is labeled as being good for gasoline.

As stated above, while you have it out, now is the time to install a pencil filter.

Fuel-proof paste and the in-tank screen. I hate teflon tape, especially in fuel systems.

Yes the filter is ready. It turns out, white permatrx can dissolve over time with gasoline that includes ethanol. I am told to use a yellow or gold sealant. This is what I am going to use.
