My car had a rack on it when I bought it but I'm not sure about the installation. It wants to drop down when i drive. I'm thinking maybe the small notched arms on each side were put on upside down. As it is, they have nothing to hook onto. What do you think? Thanks for your help.

The notched arm is upside down. It is supposed to hold the rack in the closed position. When the rack is closed, it hooks over the rod.
These racks are notorious for drooping, especially when mounted on extensions behind the spare tire. You may need to rework the mounting holes. |
