My motor is a fresh re-build with a "B" cam and 5.5 head. I am asking for a spark plug recommendation. Thank you in advance.

Sure, use them, they'll run real well, I use them with a Brumfield head at .025 gap

I have the same combination except I have insert main and rod bearings, counter balanced crankshaft, lightened flywheel, V8 clutch, and I run 3X sparkplugs. I gap my plugs at 30 instead of 35 because of the 5.5 high compression head.

I am about to put a Snyder 5.5 head on a fresh stock re-build. I just bought a set of 3x's I thought the wider the gap the bigger the spark was better. A higher compression works better with a closer gap?

I have a Brumfield 5.9 head, Stipe IB330 cam, "B" carb and manifold and the stock Champion 3X plugs work great.

Like your avatar... With a good ignition 0.035 should be reasonable, on the 7:1 Lion I use 0.037 A's Always Dave |

The blue coupe in the avatar has a Brumfield 5.9 and a "B" cam. Stock Z-1 carb. She run - and idles - beautifully. Plugs set at .030 and points set at .020 and gap in distributor set at .025. All three gaps have to work together.

Thanks for mentioning the gap between the rotor and the contacts in the distributor housing; this is a very important gap which is often overlooked, even with a stock engine. Ron |

You bend or file the brass rotor tab, and check the space between it and the contacts with a feeler gauge.

Sometimes it is necessary to dress the tab or tabs in the upper housing; have found them badly worn from past usage where the gap was not checked prior to usage.
