My clutch pedal seems to sit about 1 inch closer to the upper floorboard than the brake pedal. Both have their respective return springs in place (clutch original spring; aftermarket brake return spring).
This is an early multidisc clutch ... thought maybe the brake pedal shaft collar (original) was installed incorrectly but rotated it 180 degress and same issue. |

The brake and clutch pedals on A1276 match up perfect, same height; I have no idea why yours are at a different height ? Why are you using a after market brake pedal spring ? Ron |

aftermarket spring was in a box of parts someone gave me .. thought i'd try it (plan to take off for judging). could this be pulling the brake pedal higher than necessary?

How much free travel do you have in the clutch pedal? should be set for 1 inch....then adjust the brake pedal to the clutch pedal with the clevis and then reset all your brake rods and adjust the brakes and it should be close to being right. good luck

Charles,
Gave some thought to your problem. The brake pedal stop is pretty well fixed as it uses the bell housing built in stop; if you replaced the pedal shaft its possible the outer hole of the new shaft may have been drilled in the wrong position ? The clevis on the end of the shaft is the clutch pedal stop. Moving the clevis 180 degrees will not change the stop position as the cut outs are equal on the clevis. Just somthing else for you to check for your problem. Ron |

As I recall, there is no stop on the early(multi- disc) bell housing for the brake pedal,
just the later. I would think the hole in the pedal shaft is in the wrong place, either one. Dudley |

You are probably right. I have rebuilt a number of multi-disk clutch assemblies, but I never had anything to do with installing the pedals. I do know that the pedal shaft is smaller in diameter and the pedals do not have bushings. The one photo I took for an article shows the bell housing from the oposite angle. I am not sure what stops the brake pedal. Hard to believe that Henry would just allow it to bang against the floor board.

Old post but same problem! On my truck the brake pedal is about an inch higher than the clutch pedal. Seems the only stop is the pedal hits the floor board. I added a 1/2 block of oak to even the pedal out. I know that is not a factory solution and maybe someone knows how to adjust the pedal on a 29 CC PU

The collar on the end of the shaft sets the clutch return spot. It might be worn out and allowing too much return travel. Also check the tabs on the clutch pedal for wear.
