Default 31 Grill shell question, lower spot weld.

On a 31 shell with just the removable top panel.

The bottom part is spot welded on. I have a decent shell with minor dings. The problem is the lower face where the single spot weld was done. There is a round distortion and it looks like the shell was at a bit of an angle when the spot was done. This leaves 2 dings at the spot weld.

I am pretty sure they are factory as the other stainless does not show bending indicating it was bent enough to cause the spot weld to pull.

So is this within the normal of shells?

I must add that there are a number of variations of how this type of shell is put together. Another shell of this type has several spots on the sides, not the face. One that is spoted on the face has very minor distortion.

I have read somewhere that there were three different assembly types of the 31 shell. Try searching the archives here for more information.
