Default 1933 Disassembly

Hi Folks,
I am in the process of disassembling a 33 that I bought. The floor is shot and I want to keep it on the frame for now but want to take the engine/running gear out. Question. Am I better to take the engine out then the trans or take them out together? I have everything but the bolts removed from the trans mount to the engine. Does the trans just slide out of the torque tube? Thanks

To remove the engine and transmission as a unit, remove the radiator, radiator grill. and unscrew and remove the shift lever. The u-joint cover is held by four bolts, and the u-joint itself is secured by a bolt to the transmission output shaft. There is a special spacer under that bolt, so be sure to save it. You can leave the joint on the transmission, as it will slide off the driveshaft. If you don't have an engine hoist rent or borrow one. It beats a chain hoist, as you can roll the engine forward, then up and out.

If you are not familiar with the instructions, ignore the notes re the UJ. That can only be removed after the trans and torque tube have been separated. You wouldn't normally remove it unless stripping the trans for inspection or rebuild, or swapping the UJ itself.

I have a 33 myself. Here's a link to my build thread.
