Default distributor question

Is their a difference between 37-38 distributors and 32-36 models and can the later models be used on the 32-36 engine without modification?
Thanks, Don

I have a 37-41 distributor, coil and intake I took off my perfect running 36 in favor of the correct parts for my year if you need them.
