Looking for help to identify this block. The only lettering or numbers appears to be a 19 on the front right side of the block and a 19 inside the water jacket. I do not know original bore or stroke as it is now 4 inch and 3-5/16 bore. Has factory relief. Thanks Bill

Yep, factory relieved pre-war 239 block. Does it have the "raised" intake or the plugs in the oil pan rails?
Is this the same engine you posted in your other thread with the home made deep sump oil pan? |

Egge makes a beautiful light weight 3 ring piston for these Damn Hot rod engines in .020 ans .030". The .020 pistons came with Metric rings from a Volvo truck. This gives 279.4 ci or a 280. Using a set of EAB heads milled to give .040" piston to head clearance and a stock EAB cam. Gives the engine fantastic low end torque. Could become a trend. Makes a nice grocery getter.

As stated above you found a 39-40 Mercury engine (optional but not common in trucks). A thread with lots of block information is here: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...5301&showall=1
