Default Axles are different lengths

I just put brakes on a T I am not familiar with and when installing the axle
nuts I noticed about a 4 thread difference in length of axles.

Worrisome?

Perhaps the hubs are worn, and more axle threads show due to the taper hub riding further up on the axle taper. Check the wheel hub nuts inside the drum to be sure they are not hitting the replacement emergency brakes.

There is a 'longer' axle shaft newly made for use with outside brake set ups, but the threads are same length as std. length axle shafts.

Doesn't seem to be any riding conditions and they seem to work as advertised. Guess I'll go back to sleep!

Thanks for the feedback.

Some current axle shafts are 1/16" over the standard length to accommodate worn hubs without having to resort to shims. Not a problem.
