My neighbor just emailed me this. AA radiator shell and 30-31 rear brake drums. Other than that, this is a mystery. Would anyone else like to shed some more light on this very odd and interesting AA truck?

That was a 'custom made' vehicle made exclusively for the delivery of U.S. Mail to the rural areas of the country side. I have seen several of these types of vehicles - all were made to deliver the U.S. Mail, although I am sure that others were built to deliver other types of goods as well.
Other similiar vehicles of this type I have seen were based on the then current Model T. None of these types of vehicle have I seen that were not based on the FORD platform. - Doug Vieyra, Eureka, Calif 56 degrees at noon. |

That radiator shell was used on all commercial trucks. A and AA.

Hi Mike,
Interesting A with a T front axle or A upside down?. Also I like the gas station in the back ground. Thanks, Jim Sinclair |

The tires have the same tread design of the old basket style hay rakes, wheels most likely from the same implement and just modified for the truck hubs.

I think the "Unauthorized Accessories" book shows the High Wheel options.
Maybe referred to as "Stilt wheels?" Joe K

Pneumatic. The "P" is silent - like in swimming.
Sorry - old joke. Joe K

My grandfather in North Dakota had a rural mail route and drove a Model A with huge wheels like that one. I have a picture of it someplace and will try to find it.
