have a new Mallory distributor would like to install on my 8ba engine with stock 49-53- timing cover. I have mcf heads on the engine, what can I use to hold the distributor in place? Thanks for the help.

If the mallory is made for the flathead it will bolt down with a lip just like the old one did.
If not put a rag in the cover hole , then drill the cover in a couple upper spots and tap 8 / 32 . Then use short 8/32s to lock the distributor after you set timing. Doesnt take much to hold one as they dont drive any accesorys.... |

It will look like this. I used one 1/4-28 socket head cap screw and a 1/4 in. tall collar so as to keep the Mallory dist. at the proper height so the gears mesh correctly as when using the original stock heads.

DG - I am using the stock hold down on the Mallory. Works fine. The setup that
Fordy is clean and simple. KISS principle at work there. PS the Mallory I am using was set up by Bubbas.
