I am dealing with a bad sloppy shaft on the end where the bronze half shells reside. Question is are there different size bushings there or are there different size balls for different years?
I am using 40 Ford actuation shaft to a hogshead. There is plenty of slop at the pivot Point ball. Any help would be appreciated. All parts are in good shape. |

Is the pivot ball still properly round? And the hole where the bush's go, is that actually still round. I ask as looks to be in good shape and within spec, are often two different things. Not questioning your knowledge, just makin sure.
I think they all be the same size. I had a rattley sloppy ball, it was out of round. Martin. |

What is your chassis application? Ford made several designs of the ball pivot mounting bracket....all had the same ball. They do wear over time. A fresh split bushing only helps a bit if the ball is worn. Also the inside end of the actuation shaft could be worn. New parts would help. Also the bracket must be tight to the frame.

there is also a long spring inside that helps keep things tight.
as for the split bronze bushings, when you order from whoever..... ask what they are made out of. last set i got through a customer who bought their own parts were PLASTIC. i think the stuff came from Mac's |
