I meant to say 1/8-27 NPT not 1/4.
I would like to install a drain plug on my polypropylene gas tank and am wondering where I can buy a 1/8-27NPT plastic plug. Anyone know of a source? I don't want to buy a bag of them - just one or two. Thanks. |

I think 1/8th inch is 27 TPI...1/4 is 18? as I recall.
Check your local HW/Home depot? |

Home Depot doesn't sell small plastic ones with 1/8-27 NPT threads. I need either nylon or polypropylene.

Does it really have to be plastic?
The option that I would consider is a stainless steel Allen plug (less sticking out to get knocked off ) Such as this from Grainger--- http://www.grainger.com/product/Hex-...AS01?$smthumb$

How about aluminum? There is always ebay. Not too many items not on ebay. Summit Racing also has them.

I will drill and tap a 1/8-27NPT hole in the bottom of the tank. Already tried it on a practice piece of polyethylene plastic and it worked fine with no leaks. The trick is not to tap too deeply with the tap, otherwise you loose the taper.

I bought a Tanks Inc universal tank for my project and never realized that it used an in-tank fuel pump. The pickup came out the top of the tank. Had to have a bung soldiered to the bottom. They should put drain plugs in their tanks.
