Blow out the fuel lines and carb. Make sure the line is at least 1/4".

Does it take a minute or two between the time it chugs to a halt and the point where it will restart? Check that your gas cap vent is functional if that is the case. How high is the water temperature when it quits? When it restarts is the problem then over with until the next drive, or does it repeat after a few minutes of driving okay again? Just a bit more information on what leads up to the quitting and immediately following it, may help us help you.

It starts right up after it quits , and usually happens within first few miles when I get up to 30 mph , engine is not overheating, I tried loosening gas cap at first and that didn't eliminate problem either, it has happened every time I have driven past few days, will restart no problem right after quits but problem still exists when driving

Check that your gas cap is properly venting the tank. Take it off and drive the car and see if the problem persists. A partially plugged fuel line could also be the problem. Remove the fuel line and run coat hanger wire into the tank to free up any blockage.

I had a similar issue several months ago when out on a club outing. Mine seemed like it was running out of gas. I could restart it and when I would get up to about 40mph it did it again. One of the club members thought the float may be sticking. A few whacks with a wrench on the carburetor bowl and I was good to go. It hasn't happened since. I had been using nonethenol gas and that day I did fill up with ethanol gas.

When it starts the 'chugging' if you ease off on the throttle or push in the clutch will it stay running ?

I believe he said carb and fuel line were new. Not much that can go wrong with a new fuel line except if he put the fuel line past the end of the ferrell into the female end of the carb.
I would look at the carb especially if it's a rebuilt. |

90% of fuel problems are electrical.

If it started when you used the crap gas, and ran good after tapping the carb, then I'd check the needle and seat. That ethanol crap gas doesn't do well with some needles.
If you don't have the small filter in the tank valve, then I'd install one. |

Sure sounds like a vacuum situation.
You likely tried the fix of removing your fuel cap for a test of the fuel cap vent. May be fuel tank debris clogging the fuel supply. Easy test for tank debris blockage: Disconnect fuel line from tank. Run rubber fuel line to your line, from a gas can with clean fuel. You will know if it is debris in the tank clogging the line, or not. Many ideas will come on this great site.
