I have two column drops with different numbers on them, and also are made different. Once installed you would not know any difference. Has anyone seen the slotted variation, and any reason for the slot? My thoughts are to make the steering lock easier to install. Any thoughts?

The slot wa cut by someone so they could take it apart without pulling the pin from the on off lever.

I wondered about that, but why the different number? Does it not mean anything? I have had both of these over 40 years, and it was this way when I took it apart.

It may be the different colors giving the illusion, but one looks like a bigger diameter than the other. Could be one is passenger/pickup and the other a BB type truck? Remember that this was used on 33 and 34 trucks also.
