Default Replacing lug bolt in rear spare tire carrier

Hello. Was wondering if anyone has ever done a repair on a rear spare tire carrier that needed a new lug bolt. This is an original (early style) spare tire carrier. Snyder's catalog has bolts with square shoulders but this carrier doesn't look like it had square bolts installed originally. Thanks. Jim

I have installed la ug bolt in a 28 rear carrier. It just fit in the square hole and I tacked it in with my MIG welder. I guess I thought all rear spare tire carriers use square shank lug bolts - my 28 did. Otherwise you could take a Dremel tool and grind the shank to fit in the carrier hole. If you post a picture of your carrier (the hole area) we could see what you are referring to.
