I've att. a pic of a 30 Roadster. My question is this: Was that full rear bumper an actual option in the day, or did someone just mount a front bumper on the rear? I've seen a couple of A's with this set up. Personally, I like the looks of the 2 smaller bumpers. Could this have been an after-market option? As always, thanks. Smitty

I can not say for sure but i was told that full size bumpers became standard in mid to late 1931. ????? It was not a Ford option before hand or a after-market option. I am going what i have been told for years.[On the roadster] ALL Deluxe Phaetons have "FULL" rear bumpers which started in May of 1930 .Maybe to on the Deluxe Roadster which came out in Sept 1930...???

The 1930 Deluxe Roadster and the 1930 Deluxe Phaeton both came from the factory with dual side mounts and a full rear bumper.

According to the book "Henry's Lady" by Ray Miller (page 119), the full-width rear bumpers were introduced on the 1930 Deluxe Roadster. The Standard Roadster continued to use two individual rear bumpers. Hope this helps. Henry's 31 |

Yes , but the frame had 4 dimples to locate and drill the 3 small holes for the nuts and bolts and a larger hole in the middle of the 3 for the side arm and ,,,nut/washer inside the frame. Later the frames were pre drilled.I know of what i have seen on cars...My 180A has the 4 dimples on right side and factory spare tire arm bracket [rivet] on the left. And i have seen both in that period of Mid 1930 ...pre drilled and dimples on the right side.If you have the FORD Service Bulletin book on pg. 249 it will show how to...
