October, 2008 /Dim, Yet Brilliant, Too

Quote from Hemmmings Article

"Owners of Full Classics and street rod builders alike covet the Woodlite, but if you're in the market for a set, you should be prepared for a lengthy wait that ends with the writing of a hefty check. Chuck Konesky of Elma, New York, who buys, restores and sells Woodlites, said he has found four pairs in two years of searching. The cost for a fully restored pair, complete with replating, "would probably be in the $3,500 range," he said. At that price, they'll do everything but light the road ahead."

I have to agree with Mike on that, and that's why I didn't buy a mint pair from the antique shop in S.D. for $300 back in the late 70's.

Anyone remember Tinkertown, just west of Watertown, S.D. on highway 212? They even had a Duesenberg in the late 70's for $10,000. That was by far the best antique shop I'd ever seen, but after the husband died about 1980 or so, the wife had an auction, and that was the last of it.

Yes, I sure did, but also I didn't have that kind of money either.
I should have taken out a loan.

I've seen new reproductions being offered. I believe the ad was in Street Rodder magazine, 6mo to a year ago.
Paul in CT As others have said, very pricey!

I'm at French Lick now and when I looked at all the parts at the swap meet today I came across a part made by Woodlight. I don't recall if the part was old turn signals or outside mirrors. I'll try to remember to carry my camera tomorrow and take a picture of the parts if it's still there.

Tom, my Uncle sold my grandfather's roadster 31 J Duesenburg Roadster for $8800 in 1982. My cousins and I have it spotted and are waiting for a well placed death to get it back into the garage. It has not had a Concourse restoration and is sitting in the garage of the third owner not being driven. Peppo's car did not have Woodlites, but those lights were considered "spiffy".
