Default Heinze Wiper Motor

Good Morning Barners,
Does anyone have info on the Heinze Wiper motor manufactured in Lowell Mass? I have removed the cover and found that the brushes are far from contacting the armature. If anyone has any pictures or diagrams on how they are made or experience on repairs I sure would appreciate help.
Thanks very much,
Al Leach

Al, is yours an original as discribed in the JS or a later replacement style? I thought I had pic's of my original, but I must have deleted them. Model A Wipers formally owned by Mick Isabell was sold a couple of years ago. Mick was great to deal with for parts. I do not have any contact info for the new iowner, but I am sure someone on the Barn does. Bert's also likely has brushes and some spare parts. Rod

Brushes (if carbon) can be made by filing down a larger brush. I'll probably have to start doing that for powerhouse generators, as they aren't being made anymore.

I made a set awhile back for a 5 brush, then I got lucky and bought afew sets of NORS from a friend who had some in the jars. I have those put back for now. I am getting ready to make a set for my 3 brush, then see how many good/correct powerhouses I can rebiuld with what I have. Spring and warm temps can't come fast enough for me. Rod

Thanks guys,
I found the patent and it looks like there is an insulated anchor that attach's to a spring which pulls both brushes to the armature. I confess I haven't purchased the JS yet. It looks like an original part but can't be sure. It is identified as "No 1" on the ident plate.
Thank you again,
Al

Hi Smurph,
I googled "Heinze electric co. wiper motor" and this site popped up.
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/1840007.html . 1840007 happens to be for the wiper motor. I also used it recently for after market shocks but in that case the patent number was on the part. I seem to stumble on this as I google various info on what ever part I need info on.
Caution - I made a mistake once and clicked on download PDF - don't do that!
Good luck Smurph
Al

Thanks you so much for posting this information about the wiper motor. I was having the same problem. I tried a spring, but of course it got to hot.
Now that I have saw the drawing I will make some insulators. Thanks.
