I am in the process of replacing the seals around the transmission tunnel and floor boards in my 40 coupe and have found the hole around the steering column has a home made piece of tin (with gaps) fixed around it.
I have a new seal to fit to the column and wonder whether there is meant to be a metal panel fixed to the underside of the floor with the ruber seal on top of it or how it all goes togeather. Can you buy a new repro. panel for this? I also would like to know if the pedal seals have the flat side or the tapered side facing the underside of the floorboard. ( I assumed it was the flat side). |

Bob Drake used to reproduce the metal piece that fits around the steering column. Here is a link to a catalog drawing. I cannot find the metal parts in his current online catalog.

Use the gasket to make your own metal plate [tin] to go around the steering .
