Default What flatheads will fit in a 1938 ford standard

Het guys I just started a 38 that has juice brakes and a 39 tranny but no motor. Will a 8 BA flathead fit or do I need to stay with an 59AB.

8BA will fit with some minor tweaking. I have a '35 with an 8BA using a '39 tranny. I went with a crab type distributor to keep front of motor kind of looking more like what the 59AB would have looked. This caused some probs which I worked through, pretty minor stuff. If you don't mind the 90 degree of set distributor which will sits higher and in front of your intake go with it. It will work out easier with regard to a fan location.
Have fun, I did
