Electric wiper-ground

Where does the Heinze HA-C1 electric wiper get it's ground on a 1929 Briggs fordor? Thanks, Terry

When it's attached to the window frame which is attached to the body which is ground. and where did you get your wiper i"m in the market for one,for my blindback?

I used the rubber boots that Bartton's sells and they keep the motor from grounding. Were the boots used originally? If so the motor is insulated from the windshield frame. I put a post in the wanted section of the Ford Barn and someone had what I was looking for.

There should be a thin brass strap that wraps around the rubber for the ground strap.

Is the brass strap painted black or is it left natural? And thank you for the information that is what I was missing. Terry

I thought of another question. Does the strap go on the drivers side of the wiper or the passengers side? Thanks, Terry

My wiper is packed away somewhere, so I can't take a picture, but the Restoration Guidelines shows it on the first 6 pages of section 20. It's a thin brass strap that covers the inside of the rubber only. I was thinking it wrapped around both sides of the rubber, but it doesn't. In the book it's pictured as a single line, so you can see which side it goes on. As far as paint, I don't know the answer to that. My strap was cracked and I had to make a new one, but don't recall if it had paint on it.

The brass ground strap should be left bare. If you paint the ground strap the paint will act as an insulator and it won't be able to connect to ground.

Also, make sure the frame is bare where the brass strip sits.

heres an original wiper
it may not be exactly like yours ,but this is what you need
the bronze strap is riveted to the base
the strap is not painted,and on the drivers side
the frame where it meets must not have paint on it

I just finished rebuilding my electric wiper off my 1929 Cabriolet...no copper strip under the wiper motor and on bench I hooked one wire to ground and one to hot and it runs great....my question is where is switch for electric wiper and what kind is it??..the wires go all the way from motor to under gas tank but no switch?? Dick

The switch should be on the wiper. Do you have a picture of the wiper?

Tom; No switch on A.E. Laboratories motor, two wires come out of cover and go into windshield frame (rubber between motor and frame, no copper strip)the wires then go down A piller and exit on left side of cowl inside car...from there I could not find where they should go or find a switch...will try to take picture, but have trouble posting most of the time...can email you picture if you don't mind..easier for me..Dick

That's a fairly common aftermarket replacement wiper.

Thanks Tom for input, most of my car is original so figured wiper was also..not so...but it will work just fine if I can find cloth covered wire to run from wipe to under dash and put in switch which will also not be original...more points deducted...Dick
