Default Cool old Ford sign

Bought this from a "picker" yesterday. Only have one side and both sides of money back. One of the money back sides has been painted over, but it should come off easy enough. Can not ever remember seeing one in person before. Good enough to mount flat on garage wall.

Yes, In the 1930's Ford used R & G used cars as a logo for their dealers, like Chevy used OK cars. See ad below.

I never knew about the R&G, I'm embarrassed to say. Thanks for the education.

I have a picture of the dealership in Iowa from 1953 and the "R&G" sign was still hanging on the side of the building. The guy I bought the store from sold it along with the neon Ford and Mercury signs a couple of years before I got there in 1996. He said he sold the neon signs for $275 each! I'm not sure I've seen one in person. I think only in pictures but I know the program started in the 30's. Later on they started the "A-1 Used Cars" program and that signage lasted until about 2000 in different variations.

It was the"Certified Pre Owned" program of the 30's if that makes sense.
