Default Speedometer: Speed yeas, mileage every 5th

Hi A-Friends,

I searched for this problem without success, I just found a reverse one.

I do have pretty accurate speed but mileage counts about 1:5 less, same does day counter.

My speedometer is original with 44.500 mi. This problem is not dramatic except when participating at classic car rallies. Can anyone recommend me an experienced repair expert, whom I can ship over the unit next winter for a fix?

Many thanks in advance, Albert

Thank you for hint, I am owning the vehicle since 4 months and don't have any maintenance and repair reports. Since 4 months it was under repair to fix about 200 technical issues, this is the last one. How to figure out the right speedometer gear ? Didn't know, that there are different once. Does it make sense to order such gear as a spare part and play with it or better to get the speedometer repaired and "factory calibrated" and if then speed does not fit to care about gears ?

Thank you for the link to the repair shop....

Remove the 2 screws holding the gear to the torque tube, then count the number of teeth. If your odometer reads 5% too fast then use a gear with one more tooth.

You need to get the odometer right FIRST, then worry about the speedometer.
