Default Holley 94 question.

My rebuilt 94 (I rebuilt it myself) runs well, accelerates well, idles well, but the plugs are a bit sooty. The centre porcelain is a buff colour, but the metal part is sooty. I have 51 main jets and am wondering if the Barn thinks a change to 48s will stop it running rich. Power valve is a proper US one with the correct shape, and the pump is a leather one from Ken CT.
