Fellas, I completely disassembled a T86 with R10 today. The gears and teeth are all in excellent shape. I had to disassemble to replace the main case of the T86 since UPS broke off a mounting ear and lost it.
It did not have that many miles on it ... but take a look at how I had to booger up the old rear seal on the tailshaft to get it out ![]() ![]() Eventually went to an air chisel. I guess they made the seals a whole lot better back in the day. The thing was stout. QUESTION: What is the best way to clean the tailshaft housing? I "might" be able to get it into my parts washer next week but the thing is huge and narrow at the bottom end. What is the best way to clean it? anyone out there ever resto one of these units? maybe you have some advice before I tackle reassembly?
