Default E28 Brake Lever Spring

Someone was sitting in my early ’28 open cab pickup and for some reason pulled real hard on the emergency brake handle. This car has the handbrake by the driver’s door. I didn’t realize until later that some damage was done. The pawl and the ratchet appear to be OK but they will not engage unless I push them together from underneath. There is no brake lever return spring as pictured in the MACs catalog so I assume that spring popped or broke off.

I probably will order one from Snyders but was hoping that someone could tell me how in goes on and if there are some tricks in installing it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Robert
