I am restoring a 1929 tudor sedan and I have a question or two about one of the interior wood pieces. The piece(s) I am questioning are the ones that fit in the rear of the body, just behind the rear side windows, and just above the rear seat riser. The top part of them are curved to fit the rear of the body and there is a piece that is screwed into it and extends downward. Where exactly do I screw the top piece into and where does the vertical downward piece attach to or where is it supposed to be? Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Bob.

Mitch did you have to trim the rear support piece to get it to slip behind the corner bracket? I have a new piece for my 30Tudor and cannot get it behind the bracket as is. The original piece is a little thinner in this area, but it appears it may have been compressed from the bracket being tightened.

Mitch,
Have a couple questions. Is that a '29 or '30 body you have shown in the pictures? Is that a kit or did you cut it yourself and if a kit where did you purchase it. Lastly, how did you remove the door jamb wood. I have a '30 with the skin off but have been unable to remove this piece of wood without some bending of the remaining wood. Thanks for your time and sure hope you can answer my questions. |

As mentioned in my post the kit was purchased from classic wood. It is a 30 body. The post wood is in tight and screwed from the outside under the outer skin. Those screws are inaccessible when replacing the wood with the outer skin on. What i did was used a slap//slide hammer with a wood screw in three locations on the post wood. It pulled it right out and then cut off the screws coming in from the outside or back edge ( skin side) of the body. Last edited by Mitch//pa; 03-05-2014 at 06:43 AM. |

Here are some rear interior pictures of my 2-28-29 (gas tank date) Tudor.
Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the top corner, and can't get to the car until summer. Notice the second picture shows both styles of rear cushion fasteners, as this was the transition period. |

Here are some pictures of Jim's 1928 Tudor that he recently bought. Notice the two metal strips used with the corner upholstery.

I just noticed in my pictures above that the first and last pictures show a long extra thread hangine down from the metal triangle bracket. This car has the remains of the original upholstery, but what's up with all the extra thread?
![]() I'd sure hate to bump my head on it. ![]() |

Mitch my wood is also from Classic Wood. I found them very pleasant to deal with. The rear support fits the body contour and matches the original in every way except the area where the bracket attaches, as mentioned. It is not going to slip behind the bracket without removing some material or removing then replacing the brackets.

Mitch,
Wow, glasses must have been dirty to miss "no trimming it went right in the kit was from classic wood". Thanks for the info about the post wood. Good reason I couldn't get it out. Thanks again. |

Thanks Mitch and Tom and all of the others who shared their knowledge and pictures. This does indeed clear it up for me. Bob
