There's been previous discussion here about repro fenders, both steel and fiberglass. Most comments regarding poor fit seem to focus on FRONT fenders, which are far more complex objects than rear fenders.
I need a pair of rear fenders for a 1930 Town Sedan. I don't want to spend a zillion dollars having a body/paint man turn beat up originals into usable fenders. Thus, I'm considering going with repro fenders, either steel or glass. The car is a driver, and I plan to keep it many years. My perception is that the fiberglass REAR fenders from Westcott are well made and are easy to fit. So there's little downside in installing them, other than having to hold my nose a tad because I'd be using fiberglass. So here's my question: Anybody have good or bad experience using steel repro REAR fenders? Do they fit well? Do they need a lot of work to align properly, or just a little bit of work? Don't need any comments on front fenders, or on the purity issue of using reproduction body parts. Thanks to all who can offer input based on their experiences. Texas Tom |
