Default Oklahoma City FORD Assembly Plant opening for Model A production

According to an article in the OKC Chamber of Commerce newsletter...we will have to go with an April 2, 1928 opening for Model A/AA Ford production unless something can be proven otherwise.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I checked on the OKC plant and it was a Model T plant already and didn't see a start date for the Model A production. So I accept your date until someone can show a alternate date.

Russell,

The major newspaper in OKC, The Oklahoman, yieled nothing when the first Model A rolled off the assembly line...The closest we can come is the April 2, 1928 date in the Chambers newsletter.

By the way Russell...Did Tulsa have a major newspaper during that time?

I am sure it did...Why not check it out around the April 2, 1928 date and see if it reported on it...One never knows!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I think Ford refered to those type of transactions as "Drive-a-ways"!

Understandable 1930 coupe...But I am not interested in when the plant was built...just when the first Model A rolled off the assembly line in the OKC assembly plant.
