Default KIWI International Model A DAY

Some 36 Model A,s from Greymouth, Christchurch, Nelson, Fox Glacier gathered at the small town of Reefton for the event, A 70 mile tour was arranged including a trip right down to the bottom in our A,s of an open cast coal mine , Given it rained all day It was just a little muddy to say the least . Everyone made it to the bottom & back up , The tour was mainly on gravel roads , some oneway however these were in better condition than most of our sealed roads, Reefton working mans club provided the evening meal where the able body coasters entertained us, A new trophy was donated by us was won by Kevin & Judy Straw who were able to answer more question about Model A,s than anyone else, Next years event which continues to grow in numbers will be held in Blenheim, A couple of pictures down the black hole, Thanks to the organisers.

Boy I sure would have liked to be there on those roads. Reminds me of my home state. West Virginia. RAY

Tint this photo and you could pass it for a 1930 image of the coal mine Board of Directors making an inspection trip to the quarry....

quickchange,

Admirable that you had so many participants for such a trip, wish I was there.

I counted about 16 Model A's, does that Panel in the foreground have Knockoff wheels?

This is the the type of terrain that Model A's grew up on and I put my Model A's through their paces often, but then again my Phaeton was manufactured in Canada.

Glad you all had a successful trip and hope you have good participation in the future.

Darryl. Thats my sedan delivery & no they are cragar hub caps on 16" firestone wires, Apart from new top & some interior its unrestored & staying that way, a driver with a few mods, There was at least one national show winner there too, a 31 slant window, All will need lots of cleaning ,There was more ahead of me , some 36 in total & they ALL did the trip.

My daughters' fiancé lives in Christchurch. She is moving there in May. She said South Island has had a lot of rain. She wasn't kidding.

Derek: Looks like a rerun of the Bleniem (sp) to Katoria (sp) trip over the mountain we took in 2011 on the epic tour of both islands with the Touring Club. No broken axles on this outing however. Sure beats driving down I80 being chased by modern iron. Good to see that the Model A is still proving to be the "Universal Car"
