Default Screwing in Bud Vase Brackets

I am about to place my bud vase brackets in my 1930 Briggs Town Sedan. Does anyone have a way to attatch the brackets between the quarter and rear windows slightly after the curve in the body? I know that fiberboard is pretty thin so it might not hold the screws for long. Is there another way to secure them there or am I left with the only option of screwing into the vertical wood assemblies that support the molding on the quarter and rear windows? Any thoughts?
