Default '36 emergency brake lever problem

When I pull back on the emergency brake lever the pawl? doesn't engage in the teeth, seems like weak internal spring as I have to pull up on the thumb button on top of lever to get pawl to engage. Is this spring replaceable and a source?

The knob is held on by a small pin. There is a short spring under the knob. Make sure it is not the pawl pivot at the bottom that is binding it up. If the control rod is bent it can bind.
It might all just need a clean and oil.
Good luck!

They do get very dirty and rust covered, suggest you remove and clean and relube if the spring is bad I believe Brattons or Mac's has them.
