Can someone direct me to a source for decoding the info shown on a 56 Data plate. We are starting our search for a 56 Failane Victoria and would like to be able to read the Data Plate with some modicum of intelligence.

Or - you can get a copy of the Ford Parts Book, it has lots of details regarding all codes on the VIN plate as well. Barner retrojim might still be selling CDs for those books, maybe contact him for price etc.

Cars & Parts Magazine once printed a very comprehensive book called "Catalogue of American Car ID Numbers 1950 - 59". They also put one out for the 1960 - 69 cars. It is over 1 1/4 Inches thick & is very comprehensive. Amos Press of Sidney Ohio was the Publisher.
