I have recently purchased a 31 Victoria which the previous owner who was a broker didn't know if the engine had been rebuilt. I recently changed the pan gasket and was happy to find new Babbitts, cam, lifters, valves and pistons. Unfortunately the crank isn't balanced but it runs great and will do 50 mph pretty easy. What would adding a 5.5 compression head to the mix gain me? I would like a little more take off power, not really worried about top end speed. 50-55 mph is fast enough.
Thanks! |

Do a compression check. Maybe it already has a 5.5 head. If not, the higher compression head should give you the extra power you want.

What should I look for on the compression check?
