Default Heater motor repair

I have a couple of 41 thru 48 heater motors, 6 volt that need repaired, the kind that reverse for defrosters. Does anyone know of someone that can repair them. Thanks

New 6 and 12 volt motors are available from NAPA if you don't find a re builder. They are a physical direct replacement, BUT are single speed, two wire and reversible in operation.

Could you make the single speed motor multi speed through the use of a rheostat?
Thanks
Matt

Should be no problem, except for physical size, to dissipate the (wattage) heat. I will probably use two resistors to create 3 speeds. A reversing toggle will switch the rotation from heat to defrost.

there is a reostat that turns a single speed motor into a 3 speed, i bought one for my truck, it has a 5/8" shaft (i believe) that is held on by a nut on the back side of switch out of site, it has a round black knob, but no plate with the speeds on it, if worst comes to worst and you can find one let me know and i will give you info on it

you could order the wire loom from Mac's and carefully take the motor apart and splice the new wiring (with correct color code and ends to hook to switch), clean, lube and hook it up to an original reversing switch (available on E bay all the time) and hope for the best. I do these all the time and have had great luck with making older motors work.
