Default 59 Ford Trivia

Ford started this model year with the top of the line Fairlane 500. If I recall the Galaxie was not introduced until after the new year. The major change was the modification of the roof that mimicked the T-bird. I seldom see the early 500 models. Do they have a greater or less value to the collector? I obviously have too much time on my hands.

I remember the '59 Galaxie my parents bought , as you say , after the New Year . It was a sharp looking car with the T-Bird roof . Unfortunately my folks chose the gutless 6 for power . I don't recall many of the lower line 500's around , and would have to think that the Galaxie would command bigger bucks these days. To this day , the '57 and '63 body styles are my favourites of that era , so the '59 isn't on my "bucket list ".

From what I've seen, a Galaxie with the TBird roof commands a higher value. That roof style was also used on the retractable roof Skyliner Ford, which was the highest priced Ford of that year, and which a lot of buyers probably wanted to look like, but not pay for.
