Decided to change the wheel color on my '30 CCPU from cream to black. I also painted the wheels with the tires on the rims. I hit the wheels with a wire wheel on a drill, then used a Scotch Brite pad to get all the loose stuff off. I then blew the entire wheel off with a blower, used denatured alcohol to clean them, then primed and painted them. I also found out that placing a nickel in the lug holes is the exact same diameter of the hole so it worked out that I didn't have to worry about paint getting in them. I've attached some pictures of the process and of the vehicle with both the cream and black wheels.

I personally like the cream better but I am sure I am in the minority.

Variety is what makes the world go around, but I like the Black. It looks more like a truck now. Nice job.

How did you paint them?? Rattle can or??
I see very little overspray is the reason I'm asking. Last time I painted wheels was about 1968, brush and case of beer. Paul in CT |

I too changed mine to black. IMO, it makes it look like a truck and not a toy. Nice job!

Dog
![]() ![]() ![]() Point being: We should ALL be INDEPENDENT thinkers & do it OUR WAY, even if it means whitewalls. Ol' Bill painted out an ooold used Lester whitewall for a spare, 'cause he was too broke to buy 5 new Coker Classics. But the Ol' Dude sprung for a $35.00 bag of Dog ![]() ![]() I read raised letters on the Ol' Lester tire that sez, "TO BE USED ONLY ON CARS MANUFACTURED BEFORE 1948"! Ever see that before? Maybe sumptin' to do with "Safety Rims"? ![]() ![]()

I'm a little like Bill in a way, I put on 35 ford 16" wheels, powder coated cream, and then put 6.00-16" tires with 3" white walls
