Finally after three years of restoration my '29 Town Sedan saw the light of day yesterday. Still looking a little raw and needing a final buffing and waxing I took it for its first drive after many, many years on a beautiful Easter Sunday. I'm glad to report that on the short drive there were no problems and it really surprised me how well it ran on the first time out of the garage.
This car was purchased through pictures and many. many phone calls to the previous owner's agent in the bay area of California. It was a failed project that got stalled and there was no history of repairs or work done from the owner. THe car was in excellent shape with good wood and no rust outs anywhere. As I got into the mechanical end of things I found that actually quite a bit had already been done and done well which made the wrenching part of the project a little easier. The color is Andalusite Blue, or as close as I could come, and was done in base coat - clear coat. The color may be not quite as dark as the original Andalusite Blue but it does look good on the car. At this time I don't plan on painting the reveals around the windows as I like the look without them done. I got my plater to do a brushed nickel finish on the gear shift and parking brake handles but I think they came out a little too "brushed" looking and a little duller that I expected. I know everyone likes pictures so here are several that were taken yesterday. The last picture is what the car looked like when purchased. Cheers, Bob |
