Default LogoLites Turn Signal Mod Question

My 31 S/W had the LogoLites LED turn signals on it before the garage fire. 2 of the bumper lights were melted in the fire. Since I have to do something I would like to convert the cowl lights & rear brake lights into the turn signals.

I tested the controller on the bench using the 2 good lights testing both the left & right sides. The controller works fine with the LED lights. I hooked up my 2 tail lights to try with the standard bulbs & they did not flash as I suspected.
If I replace the bulbs with LED bulbs in the cowl lights & the led lens setup in the tail lights. I don't have any 6v LED bulbs to test with.

Has anyone done this
Do you think it will work.

The logo light LEDs are set up to run on 24VDC. The controller detects the input voltage and polarity from the vehicle and changes it to 24VDC. That's why they work on either 6 or 12 volt systems, both positive and negative ground. No other bulbs or LED lights will work with the LogoLite controller unless they are modified to work on 24VDC.

Al is right on target about the 24V. Here's the controller:

If your an electronics geek you will see it would be pretty simple to make the internal power supply 12V instead of 24, but the four output drivers, without larger heat sinks, will likely fry at anything more than 1/2 amp output so any kind of incandescent cannot be directly driven.

The big problem is your desire to move the light into the taillight assemblies. Because the LogoLites system is independent of your brake lights, if your brake is applied at the same time, the much brighter brake light will make the simultaneously flashing signal hard to see. Proper signal systems, like the old Signal-Stat mechanical switch design, interface with the brake lamps and cause one brake lamp to flash on/off when both the brake and turn signal are on. If you run at night with a tail lamp on, applying brake and signal would leave the turn signal competing with BOTH the brake and tail light. Very difficult to discern at a casual glance.

Not what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is. Guess I will get 2 replacement lights & put them back in the bumper.
I just don't like the looks of amber lights on the car.

A Signal Stat 900 reproduction turn signal control for the steering post that works great is less than $25, with a flasher and other accesories totals maybe $15 more, permitting you to use your cowl lamps as forward flashers and brake lights as rear flashers.
