Nice turn out, I see the usual amount of phase 3's turned up, whether genuine or fake.

Yes still I'd rather that than the many new cars. Maybe I'm getting old :-)

True, and I wouldn't knock a phase 3 back either.

Were there many Ford Pinto's? I keep expecting the Pinto to become a collector car, especially because of all the bad press it got. Some of us who drove them [into the ground] are still fond of the crappy little thing. I'm a lurking member on fordpinto.com, and posted 45 improvements from the Model A to the Pinto.

A phase 3 is a 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO phase 3. It was the hottest Aussie made muscle car, and has cult status amongst Aussie Ford fans. There were two earlier versions, surprisingly, the 1969 Ford Falcon GTHO, and the 1970 Ford Falcon GTHO phase 2. A plain GT model was also available, with the HO having extra power and other options. At the time, the phase 3 was suppose to be the fastest four door sedan in the world, but that may be a slight stretch of the truth, I'm not sure. It could do over 140 MPH, and there is a photo of a car magazine editor driving down the Hume highway with the speedo pegged at that speed, this was when there were no speed limits along the Hume Hwy. They were made to in limited numbers to compete in the Australian touring car championship, which at the time required a certain number of vehicles of the same model to be made and sold to be eligible to race. The two other manufacturers also offered touring car specials, Chrysler offered the R/T E49 Charger, all mopars were sold under the Chrysler badge at this time, which is why it wasn't a Dodge Charger, as well as being a uniquely Australian bodied car, based on the Valiant. And GM Australia, the Holden, had the Torana GTR XU1.
