Default 37 Ford deck lid handle identification, need help

I've got a '37 Coupe that I'll be restoring and was going through my parts to see what I had for it. I have an NOS deck lid handle from a coupe, and another used from a humpback. Both are stamped stainless. Then I came across this one, nearly identical to the others I have, except it is a solid cast piece. There is also a minor difference in depth of the rod and cup, but fairly insignificant.

Is this a late/early piece, or maybe some aftermarket one? '37s are unique to the year as far as I know, so I'm at a loss on this one. Can anyone help?

It appears to be after-market.

Welcome aboard. The key in that handle does not look like an original. I bought a reproduction handle back in 1967 for my 1937 and the key looks like that one. I was able to get a key made for the original handle using the lock code from the glove compartment lock and plan to use the original handle in the future.

Thanks for the replies. The key is what made me think it may have been aftermarket, even though it's been in my stash for a long long....long time.

True aftermarket parts were created and sold when the car was new or relatively new, they are usually not the same as recent reproductions and are usually made with materials inferior to those of the original parts used by Ford.

The pressed stainless cover handle with the key hole with the extra square stamping just above the round hole for the lock cylinder is correct for 37

Yep, I have a NOS one, as well as a couple of used ones. That was the only cast one though, which is what threw me off.
